“The vote is the most powerful nonviolent tool we have.”
—John Lewis (1940–2020)

How can we unify curriculum so it is untethered from redacted history?

This is a dizzying chronicle of the steps toward and away from the ideal of an inclusive democracy in the United States. In the 250-year struggle to expand voting rights in America, steps toward the ballot for all Americans are presented in white type. Coordinated campaigns of voter suppression, disenfranchisement, and violent backlash against equal voting rights for all are presented in black type. Free to share and use as a teaching tool.
